The good and the bad

I miss the good old days when I would blog at the drop of a hat. I needed no motivation to write and the words use to flow off my key board at ease. There was always a push from within myself to write something or the other and I used to immediately do it. Well, it’s not that the words have stopped flowing when I write now, but I feel I need to be more active on this space. Time is the main issue. Now a days I am added up with lots of responsibilities (professionally as well as personally) which hardly leaves me anytime to express myself.  I feel happy writing and still there are loads of things that have gathered up in my head which are just waiting to come out and get settled in this space.

The past year 2016 was a mixed year for me. Let me first share with you the best part of it. I had been to Chicago in the month of Dec’16. It was to attend the wedding of my brother-in-law as well as holidays for me and my family. Thanks to my brother-in-law who threw an opportunity and I was quick to grab it tiny-smileys-yesemoticons-006. Visiting the US with my family was on my pending list from last many years and I am happy that I could fulfill it. Now, my daughter has already decided that she wants to permanently shift to Chicago and she is after me to get this done (like father like daughter tiny-smileys-yesemoticons-100).  We had an awesome trip and did enjoy the snowfall, chill weather, the temperature which was most of the time in negative and once had dipped to -8 Celsius with lots of wind and all the Christmas fever (lightings and offers) all around us. To add to the icing on the cake we had a mini vacation and good farewell to the last year with lots of “masti” with my school friends @ Panchgini, India.

Secondly, last year almost 5 months back my seniors at work gave me a promotion and topped me up with additional responsibilities. This was a surprise move for me. My hard work and dedication towards my profession helped me. This is one of the reason I hardly get time to visit here and have lost contact with blogging. Well, one cannot get anything easily and I am still struggling to get it officially endorsed.

Ok, now about few unwanted memories /moments which I need to leave behind in 2016. Will not talk much about this as they have to be flushed out. This includes parting ways from a few friends due to some misunderstandings.

I many a times think whether a blogger really needs a push from the readers to write more? Or is it about writing irrespective whether your post is read or not. It’s a difficult question to answer like which came first the egg or the hen?

Anyways, I enjoy expressing myself without caring whether my posts  are being read or not. And hoping 2017 will be a great year for all of us.

Reminiscing good old days

This is a long pending post which actually I had forgotten to publish it…….

Those were the innocent days of wearing same colour school uniform, same black shoes, covering text books with brown paper, childhood crushes, school classes, tutions & exams and all those teachers & unforgettable picnics, traveling to school & back home with friends, sharing tiffin in recess break..

And right back to the present of office meetings, dashing off to catch the 8.17am local train, grabbing a seat, making sure to reach before the cut-off time to attend day long meetings and then all of sudden a thought pops up “hey why don’t we all school friends just meet up to catch up on those old school days & have a nice get together”

Well getting to the point, we had a rocking school reunion few weeks back (this was my 5th reunion and all of these 5 reunions I have been a helping hand to organise it). And to mention that I along with 2 other school friends had done all the planning and arrangement (this was my 5th reunion . It was our joint efforts from last more than 1 month which made the event successful.

We, specially my friend PK and myself did lots of planning and brainstorming for the reunion event. Numerous phone calls every day, coffee meetings on weekends, the do’s and don’ts wherein all can enjoy and yes ofcourse the laymen thinking of budgetary issue. All 5 fingers of ours are not same, similarly mindset of 50+ people whom we expected cannot be the same. Pleasing each of them was the most tedious task.

Every alternate day there was some twist and turn in our road to the reunion. Hurdles are always welcome and they set the challenge for us. Overcoming them was the most exciting part. Frankly, initially I had thought of dropping off the idea but PK stood strong and always pulled me in for the exciting ride. Thanks PK for it.

Pulling it off from me-out-from-planning-a-reunion to a successful one was a proud moment. Getting intouch with school friends through social media spread across the globe, passing on the communication without missing anyone and most importantly not letting off the momentum which we had managed to build it from day 1 of announcing the reunion date.

Finally the d day was here and we as a facilitator were bit nervous as in hoping that all the pieces which we had planned out should fall out in the right place. The endless chit-chats, loud giggles, still the habit of pulling each other legs, clicking plenty of pictures with each other, dancing, singing, swaying and ofcourse hugging each other and not wanting the night-to-end so soon.

Frankly everything did go well as per our planning and all those who had attended the reunion had ball of a time. Meeting childhood friends took us 24 years back in our school days trying to recollect moments of our life which were full of fun and joy.

There was a lot to learn when we put together the feedback we received from our friends. And I’m sure the next time we plan a school get together it will only be more fun.

Some of the feedback we received are as follows :-

2 weeks back I had been to Panchgani and it was one of the most memorable vacations I have had till now. We were seven schools friends along with their families. The trip memories are etched in my mind and with them I can rewind to my good old days 🙂

This all started few months back when we were at one of my friends place. We all decided to go for a overnight picnic and were trying to search for a destination which we all can go. We had a virtual tour of half of India ad finally narrowed down to Panchgani. We rented one big bunglow which had 5 bedrooms and 2 more rooms from the adjacent bungalow along with a cook. Leaving our worries were behind, we all just wanted to have a good time.

School friends are always the best buddies. While in school learning together, we also grew up together. Meeting and spending so much time with them now after two decades of leaving the school means digging up lots of old memories. Topics like how naughty we were, remembering all the punishments we got, discussing who the best teacher was, or the prettiest one, remembering the smartest kids, and least but not the last recollecting all the beautiful girls from our batch…. and the topics were endless. Each day a new topic and then never ending discussion on the same. Given a chance I still would like to go back in my school days….

Even our kids had a ball of time. Full day, right from the word go till they fell asleep they all were playing badminton, cricket, dancing and so on. Also our better halves got comfortable with each other and they too had a good time, mostly gossiping!

The climate was awesome and being the start of the winter season also Panchgani being a hill station, nights are more colder. We enjoyed the cool breeze at nights and even the early morning fresh air. We did not even realise how our four nights stay came to an end, we were all sad to leave.

Panchgani is famous for Asia’s second largest Plateau aka Table Land. We also visited famous Karthikswamy Caves and old Mahabaleshwar during our stay.

I had a memorable trip with my school friends along with our families and I am hoping to have many more in future.
