A bird eye view …..

It’s Friday evening and the crowd is bustling around me. I wonder why only on weekends I happen to see so many people active. Is it that people only get time or rather can remove time on weekends? Why is it that everyone remembers to take care of themselves only on specific days of the week?

Now-a-days I have got another madness running inside me. To stay fit. I mean really to stay FIT. To achieve my goal I have started taking part in Marathons. Well I only have ran 2 mini marathons (10 kms) till now and few more are in the pipeline.

So almost daily or whenever time permits I go for a jog at Poinsur Gymkhana (a gymkhana club nearby my house). The walking/jogging trek is of 750 meters per round and it’s a wonderful time to enjoy my sessions along with so many adventurous things happening around me.

Well, the person I am I can never stop thinking. During my round-up sessions I observe and wonder about so many things that I have virtually categorized people as per below …

Weekenders – Except Fridays and Saturdays the run way to fly is almost empty (I feel like I m flying along with the wind when I jog). Why so? I still have not got an answer or understood the logic. tiny-smileys-yesemoticons-149

Heaviers – There will always be those fat people who are trying their best to shed few grams from their over sized body by going merry-go-round the jogging track and as soon as they are out of the club these are the ones who will immediately either have juice or something to eat as they feel they have lost a lot of weight.

Gossipers – There are kids playing in the garden area, swinging, sliding, running, shouting, throwing sand on other kids while their respective moms are enjoying gossiping at one corner. tiny-smileys-yesemoticons-084

Romancers – One can see young people too, but they have a different agenda to come for a walk. If they are a couple walking in their own world then no need of any explanation. A perfect place to walk and talk. tiny-smileys-yesemoticons-061

Discussers – If I see 2 girls walking together then I am sure this is the place to discuss things for their respective boyfriends.

Fashion goers – Talking about the girls, I don’t understand how girls can put on make-up, wear high heels and come for a walk. Somebody needs to remind them that this is a not a ramp for a fashion show.

The fixed timmers – This category are specially the girls who come for a walk with a mobile in one hand, a hands-free round the neck and talking to someone (no need to guess). The walking continues till their phone calls last. As soon as the call completes they step out of the club. They have a fixed time to talk along with walk in the evenings. tiny-smileys-yesemoticons-025

The-just-in-lovers – Well as the name says, these are the people be it male or female, they try to find different places to meet up with their loved ones be it after office hours (with the laptop back still hanging on the shoulders). Not regulars but periodically they mark their presence. tiny-smileys-yesemoticons-020

And finally not to forget people like me who have got a goal in mind and have no fixed time, no fixed days, be it morning or evening, only one thing on the mind “Just do ittiny-smileys-yesemoticons-010

Sentiments all around …

One more 26th Jan, our 65th Republic day; came and went by. So what did I do and how did I celebrate it?

This year republic day being on a Sunday, many must be thinking that we lost one holiday. Last Saturday my daughter had been specially called in school for celebrating the republic day (Saturdays being weekly off for her) and once she was back from school I was bombarded with lots of questions from her. Like who was the first Prime Minister of India, who was the first President of India, where is India Gate (since I stay in Mumbai) and the most important question was what is “Parade”? Although I was able to answer most of the questions but could not describe the beauty and feeling of watching our Republic Day Parade on TV. So on Saturday itself I decided that Sunday morning i.e. on our Republic Day I am surely be watching the parade from the start with my daughter. And yes we both made a point to get up early and be ready for the big day. The start of the parade was awesome and myself and my daughter were glued to the television set. As the parade progressed on I was explaining my daughter the significance and importance of our army and the different types of regiment. All this I was also listening on TV and then sharing it with my daughter.

Unfortunately I was not able to view the full Parade as I had some urgent social visit to attend but my daughter watched it fully and my dad took over the part of further explanation to my daughter. She was watching it for the first time and she liked the full Parade.

Right now, at the time of writing this post I am at Poisur Gymkhana attending an evening cultural event “Janmahotsav 2014 – Golden Era of India” specially organised on occasion of Republic Day. Many different competitions were held since yesterday and even my daughter had participated in drawing competition under 10 years. Today lot of young children displayed their talent either in way of individual or group performance and all below 18 years. National Anthem, Patriotic songs, dances, singing were all part of the event. We all enjoyed the full event and the audience was also big in numbers (approx 300 plus).

Overall day spent with lots of patriotism in my heart and a perfect way to celebrate Republic Day. And I really appreciate the efforts put in by Poisur Gymkhana to organise such a wonderful cultural event and also giving a big platform to the young talented generation who are the future of India.

Here are a couple of pics I have clicked of the event (although not very clear).
