Bhaag Milkha Bhaag!!!

One of the best movies I have seen lately (although I am too late to see). You all must be aware, but I would like to mention that this movie is based on real life story of our only Athlete Milkha Singh who as of 2013, he is the only Indian male athlete to win an individual athletics gold medal at a Commonwealth Games. He is also known as “The Flying Sardar” and this title was awarded to him by the then Pakistan General Ayub Khan in 1960.

By now you all must Bhaag Milkha Bhaaghave already seen the movie, if not then I will recommend you to please go and watch it (now being Tax free, one should not miss such opportunity from the Government). Infact I also went to see the movie in the theatre as it was Tax free or else I would have seen it on my lappy :).

The movie is truly inspirational one and Director, Producer Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, my neighbour and Script Writer Prasson Joshi (I mean our offices are in same building) and even Farhan Akhtar who played the role of Milkha Singh has really played their part giving their 100% efforts. I don’t think anyone knew who Milkha Singh was before this movie (exception of very handful Army man or Sports person). Milkha had his ambition and determination to become a great man someday (inspired by his first love) and he put all his efforts and hardwork to become a great person in sports history. I really liked the way Milkha says “Aahoo” in the movie, small word but such a strong commitment behind it.

And best part of the movie was Milkha winning the race event which was held in Pakistan. I can hear people clapping in the theatre as if it’s a live event. Good that people are not allowed to carry musical instruments inside or else there could have been little dancing during the event, and Gujjus would have started Garba’s too… jokes apart… yes there was loud applause for Milkha Singh defeating Abdul Khaliq (Pakistani athlete) in the race. Even I heard my daughter saying “yes yes” with her raised fist expressing her joy of Milkha winning the race . Its been years I have seen such audience in the theatre appreciating in such a manner.

I will not be giving any stars or rating to this movie as the story itself is based on true Star.

Another great movie if you have seen or missed was “Paan Singh Tomar” one more great athlete from Indian Army who later became famous as a dacoit (circumstances made him choose the dacoit’s way).

There are so many great people in India who are never noticed and whom we have near heard of. Bollywood is doing a great job by making such films and bringing in light such great heroes.

End in end lesson learnt from this movie is “Hard work and Determination pays”. And very rightly said by Milkha Singh “Hard work, willpower and dedication. For a Person with these qualities, sky is the limit”.
